As conservatives blame Democrats and "liberals" for Charlie Kirk's horrible death, this is what he said about guns and gun control in our country:
In 2023, Kirk said that gun deaths are a worthwhile price for gun ownership.
“You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense,” he told the crowd at another TPUSA event. “It's drivel. But I am -- I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.”
As long as our country values gun ownership, and yes murder, as the price for this incorrect interpretation of the 2nd amendment, Kirk is right about one thing: we will continue to have senseless weapon deaths. It won't stop until conservatives see that, if they ever will.
Having said all that, I do get this guy. I don't agree with any of his crap, but he starts conversations that we need to have - a debate about what America really is. The White Nationalism won't make life easier even for the White Nationalists. I live in a predominately white educated Republican neighborhood. We talk frequently, and what always comes out is that we're very much alike, except for our politics. If we had a common enemy, and China should be one of them, rather than our 3 year old President giving it all up to them, we would come together. I helped save a guy in Vietnam from Mississippi that was a racist pig, but he was my comrade and needed my help. Besides, we're safe in our neighborhood because our white male neighbors have hundreds of weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition. I don't and don't need one weapon. They would come to our aid in a second.
